Over a dozen dogs were abandoned.

Update: April 13th, 2026

Edmond has continued his care with the emergency veterinary clinic, where we've been learning more about what his body has been through. In addition to his visible wounds, imaging showed a fracture in one of his toes and significant soft tissue injuries. He’s also being monitored for underlying respiratory issues.

He is stable, and the team is seeing real improvement. We are planning to bring him under the care of our Shelter Medicine Team later this week, where he will continue his recovery.

There is still a road ahead, but he isn't fighting this alone.

Update: April 9th, 2026

Now in Atlanta, these dogs are receiving their first full meals, clean water, medical exams, wound treatment and pain management, and nutritional support. Edmond is still with the emergency vet, but we are hopeful he will be discharged soon. At that point, he will complete his recovery at the Atlanta Humane Society with the rest of his friends.

Update: April 8th, 2026

When we rescued Edmond, he had a gunshot wound and multiple bite wounds that had been left untreated, turning into a severe infection. He was rushed to an emergency hospital for immediate care.

Right now, Edmond remains under close, around-the-clock care. He is stable, but not yet safe. We are committed to giving Edmond every possible chance to heal and fight forward.

This is what it means to protect. To step in when an animal has no one else. To act quickly, with the skill and resolve these cases demand.

Edmond is not alone anymore. We are with him: through treatment, through healing, through whatever comes next.

Our Operation Humane team is on the ground right now, rescuing 14 dogs from an abandoned property in South Georgia. They were left behind weeks ago when their owner moved away with no notice. No food... no clean water... no care... living among piles of trash inside and outside a home and trailer, searching for scraps and shelter in filth.

Many of these dogs are sick. Some are injured. One is suffering from an untreated gunshot wound that's become infected. All of them are starving and have gone far too long without help.

They could not wait any longer, and this is what Operation Humane was built to do. We mobilized quickly and answered the dire call for help from a city with no animal control.

These dogs are on their way to Atlanta right now so we can provide the critical care they need to survive. We will continue to update as we learn more.
