Our First Six Months: Protecting Animals and Strengthening Communities Across Georgia
Six months ago, we began Operation Humane with a clear purpose: protect animals by bringing people, resources, and expertise together.
Today, that purpose is already taking shape across Georgia.
In our first six months, we mobilized for 13 large-scale responses and distributed 329,248 pounds of pet food throughout Georgia.
We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished together. But these numbers tell only part of the story.
Behind every response is a network of people ready to act. Behind every delivery are partners who know their communities and what they need. And behind our first six months are donors, advocates, agencies, and animal welfare organizations united by the belief that we can do more for animals when we work together.
This is what Operation Humane was built to do.
Building a Stronger Animal Welfare Network

Local animal welfare organizations and agencies are on the ground every day, serving animals and the people who care for them. They know their communities. They understand the challenges. And sometimes they need more people, resources, or specialized expertise to meet the need in front of them.
That’s where Operation Humane comes in.
We work alongside animal welfare organizations, local agencies, advocates, and other partners to strengthen the network protecting animals across Georgia and beyond.
Our job isn’t to take over. It’s to show up, lend a hand, share resources, and help our partners expand what’s possible.
By connecting local expertise with greater capacity, we can respond to immediate needs while building stronger, more prepared communities for the future.

Effective animal disaster response takes more than arriving after an emergency begins. It takes preparation, trusted relationships, coordination, resources, and people who know how to put a plan into action.
Operation Humane helps bring those pieces together.
We work with partners to help communities respond when animals are at risk and resources are stretched. We bring experience and capacity to the table while working alongside the people who know their communities best.
Because when the need is urgent, animals need more than good intentions.

Delivering Pet Food Across Georgia
Sometimes protecting animals starts with meeting a basic need.
In our first six months, we distributed 329,248 pounds of pet food throughout Georgia.
Getting that food where it needs to go is a collective effort. It takes organizations identifying needs in their communities, partners coordinating resources, supporters making the work possible, and people willing to move supplies from one place to another.
That network helps put critical resources into the hands of the people caring for animals.
And it demonstrates something fundamental to our work: when we connect people and resources, we strengthen the communities animals depend on.

The needs may change from one community to another. Our commitment does not.
