More Than 60 Dogs Rescued from Dangerous Conditions in Middle Georgia

Yesterday, our team responded to a situation in middle Georgia to assist with the rescue of more than 60 dogs. The property was covered in feces and waste, creating unsafe and unsanitary conditions for the dogs living there. Some were running loose near a busy highway, while mothers and their young puppies were living outside, exposed to the summer heat and weather.

We worked alongside the Georgia Department of Agriculture Law Enforcement Division and Barnesville Police Department Animal Control to help remove the dogs from the property and get them to safety. Rescues involving dozens of animals require coordination, resources, expertise, and people who are prepared to act. That is why working alongside local animal control teams, law enforcement agencies, and other community partners is central to what we do.

Four mothers and their 10 puppies were among the first animals transported to Atlanta and brought into care at Atlanta Humane, with additional dogs following as rescue efforts continued. Now in a safe environment, they can rest while their individual needs are evaluated and the next steps in their care are determined.
